This painting was part of a series of paintings exploring a limited colour palette of blues, yellows and greens which began after a holiday in Majorca. In the village where we were staying there were many lemon trees which were so beautiful in the dappled sunlit. The wayward lemon leaves in the picture reminded me of wispy clouds on a summer’s day. I was delighted to find that I could source similar lemons in the shops in January in the UK and so this painting provided a snapshot of that holiday.
