Quince Trio is celebrates one of the oldest fruits on earth. I have painted quinces for the past few years and have sold all my quince paintings. I enjoy painting these sculptural fruits which remind me of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth forms. I love their subtle yellow and green hues and their knobbly shapes. In this painting the fruits and leaves appear to dance together. The painting could work well with my Perry Pears and Fine Perry oil painting, celebrating the autumn harvest.
This classically inspired still life makes abundant use of fine transparent glazes of colour to build up the quince forms and their reflections. The opaque subtle shades of the leaves provide a sharp contrast to the solid fruit forms.
