When we moved to Ledbury in Herefordshire I searched for local suppliers of flowers to paint. I was so pleased to find the Ledbury Flower Farm and meet its owner Rozanne Delamore at a local artisan market. I could see immediately that my sourcing problems were sorted. The ethos of the farm is “to produce seasonal, sustainably grown British blooms for our customers”. It was lovely to go to the farm and marvel at the wealth of her beautiful flowers. I knew I had found plenty of painterly inspiration just down the road.
These magenta beauties were a joy to paint. I explored the delicate stages of unfolding petals in the warmth of sunlight. The soft, muted grey background helps throw the flowers forward. The piece is double framed with a double blue grey wood outer frame and a warm beige inner frame.
Other paintings in the series include Red Peony Waltz
