I am writing this squeezed between packing boxes in my new studio in Ledbury. Trying to find order in the chaos, or even just a tin opener, is a challenge at present, so it is good to sit down and write to you.
The Bath Art Fair – Friday 21-Sunday 23 February in the Bath Pavilion
Despite the chaos around me I am busy preparing for the forthcoming Bath Art Fair. This year 86 artists from all over the country are taking part, they include painters, sculptors, jewellers, illustrators, ceramicists and photographers. There is a private view on the Friday evening.
Weekend tickets are valid for both Saturday and Sunday and are £8 in advance or half price using the discount code HALFPRICEWEEKEND. (£9 full price at the door).
The concession tickets for students and over 60s are £4 in advance, under 18s go free. The full details can be found here.
You can find me on stand 15, a larger stand than in previous years because I needed to accommodate my bigger paintings. On display will be a selection of my work on gold leaf, still life food paintings and floral work. It would be lovely to see you in Bath. If you have any queries please contact me.
New Paintings
Humming Bird on Gold, Acrylic painting on 23 carat gold leaf on board, framed in a double black and gold wood frame. Framed size 10×10 inches/25x25cm. Price £350
Continuing my collection of bird paintings on gold leaf I am grateful to Dominic Mulholland, a wildlife photographer, for the use of his image. I don’t often paint in acrylic but deadlines for Bath were getting close and the Golden acrylic range I invested in had just the right intensity of colour for this beautiful bird – with the added advantage that the painting would be dry in time for the show. The painting works well alongside the Kingfisher on Gold I showed you last month.

Inspired by memories of working in Zambia where these stunning lilies littered our campus, I was delighted to find them at Spetchley Park Gardens last summer.

Of all the subjects I paint, satsuma ones continue to be the most popular. My final ‘hurrah’ before the end of the year and packing for the move was this bright lyrical composition.
