It was lovely to welcome so many people to my studio last month. Thank you for visiting us and do get in touch if you have any questions about paintings or prints following your visit.

h.Art, Herefordshire Art Weeks was a great success.  I always appreciate feedback on my work and to have nine days of interaction – after working most of the year quietly on my own – was such a tonic.

This year it has been my classical style still life paintings which have sold  well and I will be adding to this collection over the autumn months. I am continuing to explore the food and drink of Herefordshire this autumn. The next stop on my culinary quest is perry and pears.

New Gold Leaf Paintings

During the Worcestershire Open Studios I was demonstrating my gold leaf work every day and this has led to three new gold leaf paintings. All the paintings are:

Oil paintings on board with imitation gold leaf

Painting size 8×8 inches/20.32×20.32cm

Framed in a double black and gold frame

Price £300 each

Satsuma Duet on Gold
This still life brings together the richness of gold leaf with the simple beauty of satsumas. The glowing fruits rest on a blue patterned cloth, their leaves subtly mirroring the textile design beneath. The complementary colours create a lively counterpoint, giving the composition a colour fizz. Click here to view more images/buy.

Puffin on Gold

I love painting birds on a gold leaf background and this puffin is adding to a series which so far includes a Kingfisher on Gold and and Hummingbird on Gold. I am grateful to the photographer Brad Paul Bradder for enabling artists to use his superb photos. Click here to view more images/buy.

Rosa Mutabilis

It was good to meet so many keen gardeners during open studios and I am grateful for the advice about what grows well here.  One thing that is successful is a Rosa Mutabilis. This painting celebrates the beauty of this rose – its intertwining petals unfolding to reveal such a beautiful array of warm harmonies. The depth of colour which is built up with thin glazes of transparent pigments which is emphasized with the gold background. Click here to view more images/buy.

New Print – Cheese Board and Fine Cider

Just before Herefordshire Art Week I managed to get a new print ready just in time for the exhibition. The oil painting of Cheese Board and Cheeses sold on the first day of the exhibition but now there is a fine art giclee print available. The size of the image with a border is 11×14 inches/28x36cm inches. Price £45 collected. £55 posted in a cardboard tube into the UK mainland.

I can arrange for mounted and framed prints if this is preferred.

Please contact me if you are interested in buying the new print. Do sign up for my monthly newsletter if you would like to be the first to hear about new work and receive invitations to exhibitions.
