Satsuma Sonata is my latest still life oil painting. Last year I painted hanging lemons from a branch and this new painting continues the idea. Like a musical sonata there are certain themes which continue to reappear in my work – in this case oranges on a dark background. I sold all my available oranges paintings at the Bath Art Fair earlier this year. This new painting was completed this week, so it has not yet got a frame, but framing can be arranged. The unframed painting is available in the shop for purchase.
Exhibition news
April has been a very busy month in the studio so far. I am preparing new work for my forthcoming exhibitions at Spetchley Park Gardens (23rd-27th May) and Worcester Cathedral (15th-30th June). Satsuma Sonata will be one of the paintings on show at both exhibitions.
Artist of the month
This month I was delighted to be asked to be Artist of the Month for the Arts Society Worcester and they will be featuring my work in their social media feeds. The Arts Society hosts interesting talks on art and organises trips to exhibitions. They also run an extensive programme supporting the arts in the city. You can read more about their work here.
Online shop
You may have noticed some changes to my website in recent months. I am now selling all my prints and a selection of my paintings online from this site. I am aware that many of my subscribers and followers are not local to Worcestershire and this new facility enables collectors to see work close up and view it in different room settings. I do welcome questions and feedback about the revised site.
