Earlier this year I exhibited at Sixteen Gallery in Montpellier, Cheltenham. This Gallery opened in 2021 as an artist run rentable exhibition space. Finding suitable gallery spaces can be a challenge and Andy and Arthur Owen-Smith, both of whom are artists, set up the gallery with a vision for a different way of showcasing art. The gallery has been very successful since its opening and so Sixteen has now developed further opportunities for artists and has set up an online gallery. In the online gallery artists can showcase and promote their work all year round. This new venture enables artists who have previously exhibited in Montpellier to keep a presence with their ‘Sixteen’ visitors and a wider audience and show new work as it appears.
The ethos of Sixteen has been “to support as many artists as possible along their journey navigating the challenges of being a professional artist”. The new online gallery also has curated shows and the facility to browse different art genres. I was delighted to be part of the initial group for the online gallery and will be putting up new paintings and information about shows on the Sixteen Online site, so please take a look.
