If you had a flower named after you what flower would you choose? Ellen Willmott, the famous Victorian horticulturalist, who was so instrumental in planting Spetchley gardens had several flowers named after her. The orange/red sweet pea in the picture is named Miss Willmott and this was the starting point for the painting. These sweet peas I grew in order to create a joyful exuberance of a colourful summer. There was also a fantastic display of this variety at Spetchley Gardens in the summer. I am delighted to be continuing my artist residency at Spetchley in 2024.
